Layla butterfly Fae - Faery Ink

OMG it's almost the end of September... and now I totally realized that I had forgotten to post this fabulous image from Faery Ink the great Layla Butterfly Fae.  What on earth happened to me that I missed this?!?

I don't know.... I have no excuse other than it's been a rough time lately and I've been trying to get better and yeah lost track of time in the process?!? Who would guess right?!?

Anyway here's my make with her.  I have done her ready since the month of August because she was part of my Journaling by 5s series.  I really love how she turned out!

Fairy - keeping busy

I've been feeling down in the dump.... and I mean really really down in the dump.  I went to empty out my office on Saturday (you can imagine how it was emotionally draining and such).... and got a nail in one of my tires...... :(

We were having my oldest son's girlfriend and my daughter's boyfriend over for supper that day... and I had the special visit of my dad.  It was fab that it took my mind off my issues... but that soon caught on to me actually the next day I was feeling blah and today was the pits.

All I wanted to do was stay in my pjs in bed... didn't want to do anything.... and I really had to go and get my tire fixed but I didn't want too.... didn't want to do anything and I could feel the depression edging closer.... wanting to come back.... and I was ready to just let it come back with open arms and just go and crawl in a corner to cry.

But then I thought how I have fought this soooooo hard and I can't give up.... it would be so very easy right now to just let it all go.  And man that's all my body is telling me to do just give it up.  So in the end I got dressed and then went to the garage.  Got the mechanic at the garage laughing at my bad luck.... lol at least I can still get people to laugh.  Then got back home and yeah.... didn't want to do anything.  No craft no nothing.

I still managed to!  And I forced myself to create stuff for my Etsy store.  Just because.  It's not that way that I will make money really because so far no sale lol but at least it gave me something to focus on and to try to do.  And for that small amount of time I felt almost worthy of still being here.

I used the fab new image Fairy that I purchased from Julia Spiri.  She's so very cute and I made a little shadow box book out of it.

I have made some other items as well and you can see me showcasing them in a little video here:
The book was purchased at a little thrift store and it helps some good organization in the society close here so all good.  I cut out the cover and some of the pages underneath.

The flower was handmade using a Tim Holtz die and then I coffee dyed it and sewed a button in the center.  I have made more of those flowers and you can purchase them in my etsy store

The image was colored with my copics. And I put some stickles on the wings.  Here's a side view of the book

And the other side where you see the gold pages
If you are interested in this item you can purchase it here

I'm entering this little book in the following challenges:
  1. Crafting from the heart challenge blog - anything goes
  2. Craft your passion challenges - Anything goes
  3. Eureka stamps - anything goes
  4. Stamps by Julia Spiri FB group - Anything goes using one of those images
  5. Get creative challenges - Fantasy
  6. Come and get it challenge - Use a stash item - used button
  7. That craftplace blog - Mixed media anything goes
That's it for me for today.  One day at a time right?!?  Tomorrow I'm seeing my psychologist and I'm sure hoping that she will have tricks for me to use to cope.

My whimsical little world - Windswept

WOW there's another fabulous new release image over at My Whimsical little world.  And this time around it's such a sweet and fabulous image totally love Windswept.

She was just perfect in my journal that I made using the Journaling by 5s.  It's one of the pages that I didn't really alter or modify after I finished it because I really love it the way it was.

I did work on the left hand side however and that included putting some embossed paper, a hair bandana that was recycled.

Here's a closer look at the digi that I colored with my copics.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC
I hope you have a great Monday.  I have to go and get a flat repaired on my car..... happened the day that I had to go and empty out my office..... talk about bad karma..... sure hope that now something turns around for me.... I really really really need it.... like my stress to fly away lol

Don't be square

If you are here for the coffee blog hop it's here.

I'm trying to keep busy.... and that means doing something with myself. I have found that today I'm exhausted.... guess the news of this week is sinking in and the emotions that washed over me have left me kind a tired.... Tomorrow is emptying of my office day.... and I'm so glad that my hubby will be with me because I don't think I could just face going there alone.  Might be emotional you know?!?

Anyway as I have been sharing with you since January I've been pushing myself to do new things!  And that includes doing LOTS of things that I had never done before.  Including altering books!  I've been reading lots of Mixed Media books and that brings a smile to me.  So a good way to feel somewhat better.

And I've also tried to make some gifts that come Christmas I can give out and that will mean something to whoever is getting it.  This one is for my daughter (she doesn't read my blog.... and I sure hope she doesn't start now..... yikes...).  I used one of the totally FABULOUS digi from Tiddly Ink to make this.  And the book that I chose to make it with is a vampire book that my daughter loooooves (BTW found this copy at a thrift store.... the one at home hasn't been harmed in anyway.... I promise otherwise I think my daughter would disown me!).

I cut an aperture to the book and put the digi in it.  The pages of the book were all clued together.  The beautiful butterflies were a gift from my friend Erin.  I used some DCWV letters and chipboard pieces that came from Eternal love pack.

Here's a closer look at the digi colored with my copics.

And here are the 2 side views of the book :)

So.... what do you think?!?  Will my daughter like this?!?  Will I be a cool mom to my 16 year old.... or a terrible mom?!? YIKES scared now....

I'm entering this little altered book in the following challenges:
  1. Tiddly inks challenge - Don't be square
  2. Altered eclectics - Anything goes
  3. Crafty time challenges - Anything but a card
  4. Crafting from the heart challenge blog - Anything goes
  5. 613 Avenue Create  - Anything goes
  6. Lacy sunshine - Anything goes
That's it for me but did make me feel good to share this with you guys :)  Can't wait to read your comments!!!

The image was colored with my copics.  The great sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Getting myself back up....

Hello everyone!  I got some devastating news 2 days ago.  My job was abolished.  So even if I was ready to go back on a progressive basis well I have no job to go back too.  It's taking me so very long to scrap the bottom of myself from the floor.  And to read this news well... it just brought it all back.

I had to remember if it was all worth anything.... most of all AM I worth anything.  And I have to say that I'm totally BLESSED to be surrounded by so many loving people.  Everyone pulled close to me and sent me virtual hugs.  After spending 2 days crying none stop I have to find ways of getting myself back.

The best way that I know how is to go through what I did to get out of the initial big hole and that is to create.  So that's what I did.  I created something for my daughter.  It was in the pile of need to do and well today it got done.  Then, as I was pocking around FB I came across the cutest little release ever from Julia Spiri.  She makes such fabulous whimsical characters.  Totally my style. And when I saw that there was a deal on the new release I jumped on it.  And got one printed right away to work on her and journal her.

She's part of my healing process.... you know how the ant is suppose to work all the time and they are supposed to be compensated for that?!? when winter comes.... well that's not my case.... but I have to remember that somewhere out there is a job for me and that if this happened well there's a reason for it.  And it's probably because something better is awaiting for me right?!?

So here's my little journaling page to remember this!  I did the background in a gelli printing class and just love it.  It reminded me of fall colors.  I added some gelatos accent as well as some american craft metalic pen.  The sentiment is from an image found on the net about jobs.

I printed this image large and colored her up with my copics.  And then I fussy cut her out with my scissors and exacto knife.
I'm entering this little journal page in the following challenges:

  1. Stamps by Julia Spiri FB group - Anything goes
  2. Word Art Wednesday - anything goes
  3. Crafty-girls-creations - Anything goes
  4. Julia spiri challenge - Anything goes - twist is girls girls girls
  5. Southern girls challenge - Whimsical cute or fun
  6. Simon says stamp blog - No designer paper
That's it for me for today.  Might go and craft a bit more.... just to try to keep my head together!

Buttons and bows - RSD

I've been really busy this summer with this awesome new process of journaling by 5s.  It's a timed event so you really don't have time to think you have to just let it go!  And that's pretty awesome creatively speaking.  So today I'm here to share my post for Sparkle and glitter.

I've been playing with the fab sheet Buttons and Bows.  And I played with 3 for this page.

I used some borders on the left and right plus the little manequin shape.  I used some washi tape and lots of paint to make this.

Here's a closer look at the page.  They were all colored with my copics.  The sentiments are from Create with TLC  I used a bunch of punched out circles and some sequins in them.  Thought it was fitting with the image and the fashion.  I did ruin my dolls face however by putting the varnish on top.... the colors ran on her :(  that really sucks... I need to start using my Krylon spray before sealing my pages.
And here's the closer to the other:

I'm entering this little journaling in the following challenges:

  1. Crafty cardmakers - Make it sparkle - thought the sequins would fit :)
  2. Love to scrap challenge blog - Anything goes
  3. Whoopsi Daisy - Add embellishments - there were lots here
  4. Allsorts challenge- Sparkle
  5. Crafty friends challenge blog - Something with B- buttons, barbie in the sentiment :) and composition BOOK
I have one more post coming up and I hope you will be back for it!

Karleigh Sue - New release - Kharma is a b****

Hello!  There's an awesome new release over at Karleigh Sue and it's such a very fun one!!!!

I had the pleasure of working with the great Kharma is a b****.  And I thought and thought and thought of how I could use her... And suddenly I had one of those AHHHHHH that's what I want to do type of moment!

Of course it was again some journaling.  I have to say that there's something quite fun about making something just FOR YOU because YOU WANT to!  And something that no one else has to like.  It's also a way for me to have some reminder of what is important and what I'm supposed to do.... as well as what I'm afraid off....

Anyway I digress.  Here's my make with the great new image.

During the summer time I purchased fabulous skulls on special at Michael's they are made out of paper but they really make awesome stencils!  Now I need to make one out of plastic so that it will last longer....

The East Wind - Unlisted

Hello everyone!  It's time for a new release over at The East Wind and this time around the image is Unlisted!  It's just SOOOO gorgeous I couldn't resist and just had to play with her!

I have been playing with my verday paints and I had used some extras on an Index card.  I really love the verdigris that it creates!  You should check it out if you don't know that paint it's really gorgeous and makes regular paper look like metal!

So anyway back to my story I had some left over and just didn't want to waste it so I put it on an index card and love love love the background it made.  When I saw this digi I just knew it was perfect for it.  I had also purchased a fun picture stand in the states this summer and I put that index card on it as a display in my living room!  I really love how it turned out :) and that's rare because I don't usually like what I make!

So here are the pictures with the picture holder
And a close up of the image colored with my copics.  I thought I would give her freckles like me and the eyes are also close to mine :)  The sentiment is a stamp from Dylusions stamps - the right words that my friend Erin got me :)

Delicious Doodles - Dark (colour or image)

Hello everyone!  It's time for a new challenge over at Delicious Doodles and this time it's about DARK.  So it can be a dark image or using some dark colors :)

In my case I used the fab digi  "Dark Forest" and this was used in a journal that I made using the JB5 techniques.  You can see my video on my channel on how I have done the background Youtube link

TEW - Party girl

Oh it's already September 1st!!!! Where is the time going?!?  The good news is that means there's a new Freebie if you are a newsletter subscriber at The East Wind.

And she's a total CUTIE pie perfect for our corrugated paper challenge!

Now because it's September it's also back to school time.  I have to say that I really love shopping for back to school stuff because I always see cool scrappy stuff too!  I ended up buying more stuff for me at Walmart than for my kids lol there was a bunch of very cool Crayola products out!!!!  Including a set of neon acrylic paints for kids (washable lol).  It just called out my name.

Of course, I had to use them on this project.  Got me super excited.  I've been really inspired by Bonnie to try to create stuff in bolder colors and different ways.  So here's my journaling with this fab image.
